JADE CARVING WORKSHOP FALL 2010

OCTOBER 18TH THRU THE 22ND
We will be having our workshop in October featuring artist/teacher 'Donn Salt' for a five day encounter in Jade carving. We have spaces available for this date. The workshop will be after this years 'Jade Festival' on October 8,9,&10,down in Big Sur California. The workshop will begin on the 18th, (Monday ) thru the 22nd, (Friday) of October. The cost is $200.00 per day for five days. The classes will be at our home in Fairfield,Ca. The classes will begin at 9 a.m. and end ? When people start carving they just don't want to stop! The Matt Glasby workshop has been a brillant success. Our students have proven themselves and discovered a love for Jade that they didn't know ran so deep. Many wonderful pieces were created and perfected during this week. An extended love for the carving of 'Jade' was developed and will be taken home with our students to be honed and elaborated on with varies different 'Jades' from around the world. Thank you to Matt for an informative class where everyone involved was taught the basics of jade carving. Thank you to the students who attended for your openness and willingness to learn and develop your carving skills.

About Us
My desire to expand my carving techiques has lead me to explore the mixed media approach. I grew up in the Monterey Bay area of California and have always loved the Monterey varieities of trees. The above picture is a replica of a tree in Canadian Jade with a hand crafted wooden base fit to the natural formation of the stone. I have several varities of trees in varying sizes that are part of my current portfolio.
Our desire is to provide the public with a broad range of services related to Jade and Jade products. Questions and inquiries about the stone and its properties will be answered to the best of my knowledge. I hope you enjoy visiting this site and will contact us with any or all of your Jade needs.

Revelations In Stone- Our business began out of a desire to search out and work with quality jades from around the world.
- My first memory of hunting Jade was with my father at Jade Cove, Ca. I was only five years old. I fell in love with the stone then and have not let go of the thrill of new found discoveries whether hunting at jade cove, in Wyoming,or British Columbia. I love learning of Jade and hope to continue the tradition set for me by my father for the thrill of the hunt!
Who We Are
We would like to introduce ourselves to you...we are Mike and Joan Burkleo. We have been in business for the past 10 years. We have transistioned from working with a variety of stones to having our love for Jade become our main focus in our sculpture and jewelry making business. We love the process and the experience of never knowing how a sculpture will evolve until it is completed. It is the process of cutting the stone, carving and grinding that facsinate me and enhances my desire to continue to explore varying tecniques and mediums in Jade. 
This is a piece of Canadian jade that has been made into a jade table top. The 'rind' was left to show the natural hues of the stone.
